Curlew Lodge

Situated on the south west coast of Scotland in the scenic county of Dumfries and Galloway is the well appointed Curlew Lodge. The log chalet is just twenty yards from the shore at Carse Bay and is sure to offer a great base to get away from it all and relax.

The lodge can sleep up to four people in luxurious comfort and takes its name from the fact that curlews can be seen regularly both on the shore and in the field to the front of it between autumn and spring. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with twin beds. The living and dining area is well furnished and includes a log burner which keeps the place cosy during the evenings. A television and DVD player are there for guest's enjoyment as well as a good selection of books and games to ensure they will not be bored. The kitchen is fully fitted out with all appliances and outside is a comfortable covered decking area with outdoor furniture and a barbecue.

This is a great area for walkers, mountain bikers and all lovers of the great outdoors. Horse riders may bring their own horses and stable them at the nearby equestrian centre at South Carse. Wake up to the sound of seabirds and take in the spectacular views either across the Solway Firth or over the fields to the mountain of Criffel. Bird watchers will enjoy the chance to see kestrels overhead, many species of seabirds and of course the curlews. Take a stroll along the beach to the nearby pub ‘The Steamboat' at Carsethorn. Golfers will find that there is a huge choice of beautiful courses in the surrounding area to choose from and can play a different one each day.
