Situated just a short stroll from the market place in the centre of the delightful city of Durham is Crook Hall and Gardens. Step away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and spend some time here in magnificent surroundings.

The 13th century Grade 1 listed hall is open for visitor tours through out the year. We can accommodate individuals, family groups and even larger groups including coach parties. Feel free to enjoy a drink and cream tea in our courtyard while taking in the views of the gardens. In winter months you will find our Georgian dining room with a roaring log fire is especially welcoming. Treat yourself to a Sparkling Afternoon Tea in the wonderful surroundings of our Drawing Room. These are extremely popular and visitors are advised to book in advance to avoid disappointment. With a selection of sandwiches, home made cakes, scones with jam and cream and plenty of tea or coffee rounded off with a glass of bubbly this is an opportunity for self indulgence.

Our gardens have been designed and maintained, some are centuries old, to provide peaceful areas to stroll through and admire the plants and foliage. There are a variety of gardens to explore including the Secret Walled Garden, the Silver and White Garden where all the flowers bloom in those colours, the Shakespeare Garden with plants which were around in the time of the Bard and the Cathedral Garden where hedging has been cut to resemble the windows of Durham Cathedral. Children will love the Maze and Meadow area trying to make their way through the maze, while the Moat Pool and ponds offer a relaxing spot to enjoy the views across the lovely countryside. Our gardeners can give advice to visitors on how to make the most...
