Details for Dover Transport Museum

If you are holidaying in the wonderful county of Kent ‘the garden of England' or you are passing through Dover on the way to the ferry terminal and have a few hours to spare then why not pop along to the Dover Transport Museum. Here you can see exhibits of transport from days gone by.

We have recreated street scenes of Dover how it was many years ago and these can be visited in our two large exhibition halls. The museum is unique within Kent and older visitors may recognise some of the cars, lorries and buses from their own childhood. Our model railway is a large scale working set which has been growing since 2008 and is a great favourite with both children and their dads and granddads. We have dozens of examples of well preserved cars and other vehicles which are sure to impress. There is even a steam roller from the 1920s and many vehicles which were used during the time between the wars including an early form of coach the 1929 ‘Toastrack' Charabanc.

Take a look inside the Arter Brothers workshop display recreated with engines and pulleys originally in use at their workshop in Barham before being kindly donated to the museum by the company. There is also a Great War display currently within the museum with artefacts and mementos of the First World War. The museum has regular events throughout the year including Classic Cars, Classic Motorcycles, Military Vehicles and Jaguar Owners Club days.
