The North York Moors is a stunning area of rolling hills, delightful dales and purple heather covered moorland, edged by a spectacular rugged coastline to the East.

The diverse landscape offers a whole range of interesting things to see and do and there is something for everyone. For outdoor enthusiasts there are countless cycle routes, walks and climbs, including the Cleveland Way, and the North Sea Trail, set amidst the beautiful flora and fauna of the countryside and with an abundance of wildlife. For those who prefer gentle strolls there are numerous pretty villages to explore, filled with quaint cottages and interesting shops, each with their own special charm.

The North York Moors Railway passes through the area between Grosmont and Pickering and offers visitors a chance to experience the adventure of trundling through time on a steam train, whilst relaxing and taking in the superb views in comfort, with lovely tearooms and station shops it is a great day out. Maybe try hopping off at Whitby with its imposing Abbey and bustling streets and harbour, or Goathland to take in the sights and atmosphere of the famous ‘Heartbeat' television sets which are well visited by tourists.

The coastline is dotted with picturesque little fishing villages and traditional seaside towns with stunning blue flag beaches and all the usual family entertainment for which they have become renowned.
