Details for Stockbridge Riding School

Situated close to the town of Stockbridge and eight miles west of Winchester in the county of Hampshire is the Stockbridge Riding School. The school lies in the heart of the scenic Test Valley and is a great place from which to ride through the stunning countryside which surrounds it.

Hacks from the school take place on the lovely Stockbridge Downs which is a National Trust reserve. Hacking is for experienced riders only who must be able canter and trot in a safe and controlled manner. There are one hour and two hour hacks to choose from and there is very little roadwork as there are lots of bridleways and trails close by the school. We have a fine selection of horses and ponies to choose from and our fully qualified instructors will ensure that each rider has a horse or pony suited to their ability. We offer British Horse Society approved lessons and whatever your experience our friendly instructors will help all riders improve their riding skills. Our half hour private tuition lessons have proven to be very popular and productive. We also now offer pony rides lasting a quarter of an hour for those children under the age of six, a great way to introduce them to the pleasures of horse riding.

We ride out in all weathers so visitors should arrive appropriately dressed including riding hats and boots or walking shoes with a heel (not trainers or wellingtons). There are also two floodlit arenas for riders to improve their skills and novices can learn the basics before venturing further afield once they have been assessed. Please note that there is a weight limit of thirteen stones for all riders.
