Details for Strumpshaw Steam Museum

Located in the south east of the city of Norwich in the heart of East Anglia is the Strumpshaw Steam Museum. If you are holidaying on the Norfolk Broads or one of the coastal holiday resorts including Great Yarmouth, Caister on Sea and Lowestoft and fancy a day out which all the family will enjoy then head for this museum.

Here we have the largest collection of steam engines in the country. There are a large variety of steam engines, traction engines and tractors on display, some of which are regularly fired up (usually on the last Sunday in each month) so visitors can marvel at the engineering quality and workmanship which went into making these vehicles which date back to 1898.

There is a fairground and theatre collection which includes rides and many mechanical organs and associated memorabilia. One of the favourite sights for all to enjoy is a demonstration of our ploughing traction engine with threshing machine. Also on site is our very own narrow gauge railway which runs on most open days for visitors to enjoy a ride.We have a fine collection of classics cars for visitors to explore. Children can enjoy the fairground rides which are available here.

There are regular events throughout the year including classic car shows, steam rallys and model and miniature shows. Feel free to bring a picnic with you and enjoy it in the paddock, or alternatively visit our cafeteria which offers hot and cold drinks and a selection of cakes and pastries.
