Details for The Monkey Sanctuary Cornwall

Situated right by the Cornish Coast near Looe in the south of Cornwall is the amazing Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary. This is a great day out for all the family and every visitor will be happy to know that all income received by the sanctuary goes towards the support of its charitable work.

All of the monkeys have been rescued from pet trades both in the UK and abroad. The sanctuary looks after these animals and ensures they are no longer mistreated but are safe and well cared for. There are around forty individuals living at the sanctuary and species include Barbary Macaques, Woolly Monkeys and Capuchin Monkeys. Visitors can meet some of the residents and our keepers are always on hand to answer any questions. Why not adopt a monkey for just £3 a month or be a keeper for the day - a great treat for children and adults alike.

In addition to the monkeys there is also a bat cave where visitors can learn about the sixteen species of bats which live in the UK and can see the fascinating lesser horseshoe bat as they roost in our very own cave, the cellar under the house. There is also our wildlife gardens to explore designed specifically to encourage all kinds of wildlife including different species of birds and insects, and at our pond frogs, newts and toads are regularly seen. The gardens overlook Looe Bay and are also full of many types of wild flowers, shrubs and fruit trees. The children can burn off some energy in the outdoor play area and try out the slides and climbing equipment. After all the walking around where better to take a rest than our Treetop Café serving delicious vegetarian food and offering a range of teas, coffees and soft drinks.
